What is BWP’s Morning & Evening Pages?
BWP's Morning & Evening Pages is a transformative writing space designed exclusively for women of color. Whether you're working on a memoir, poetry, blogs, or any other creative project, this community helps you build positive writing habits, generate new ideas, and overcome writer's block. With the support of like-minded writers, you'll gain clarity and consistency, enabling you to complete your book faster while connecting deeply with your writing practice. Our multi-generational community offers a unique blend of wisdom, fresh perspectives, and shared experiences, providing a space where all women of color can grow in their writing journey together.
How does it work?
It’s easy! Once you sign up, you will receive information for our exclusive community and the login information. After that, there are only 3 easy steps:
- Step 1: Log on to Zoom at your designated session time.
- Step 2: Grab your pen and your Leap Notebook (or your favorite writing tool).
- Step 3: Write and engage in the community.
These sessions are a brave, supportive space to keep you motivated and moving forward with your writing goals.

Who facilitates the writing spaces?
Our writing spaces are facilitated by Heather ‘Byrd’ and our ambassadors. We create an inspiring, structured environment where participants feel supported, encouraged, and seen. A multi-generational community of fellow writers who offer accountability and feedback surrounds you, making your writing journey more productive and enriching.
Where are the writing spaces held?
We hold all of our writing spaces virtually on Zoom, making it easy for you to join from anywhere. Whether you’re an early riser or prefer evening writing sessions, you can access these transformative spaces from the comfort of your own home.
What should I bring to the writing spaces?
All you need is a notebook, a pen, and an open mind ready to write! You’ll also want to bring any project ideas you’re currently working on, but we’ll guide you through the process, whether you’re just starting or well into your writing journey.
How does the community help me complete my book faster?
The structure and routine of the writing spaces, combined with the support and conversation from the community, help you stay on track and maintain momentum. The accountability built into these sessions pushes you to stay consistent, make progress, and overcome obstacles like writer's block or lack of clarity. Heather 'Byrd' is an award-winning author of Mahogany: A Love Letter To Black. Byrd’s work has appeared in several festivals including The Chicago Theatre Festival and the St. Louis Fringe with HERstory of HIStory and inHERitance: the stories we carry. Her work has also a contributor in Expressions of Englewood, Hope Ignited: Stories of Hope By Women For Women, and Trouble The Waters: Tales from the Deep Blue. Most recently, she won the 2022 International Anthem Award in diversity, equity, and inclusion for her work on the “I See You” issue of the Cornell Report alongside Google, HBO Max, BBC, National Geographic, Netflix, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
She is the giver of giggles and hugs. Catalyst of voice, story, and badassery. Queen of quirky. Creator of legacy and possibilities. Writer of inspiration and word witchery. Believer of magick and rebirth. Holder of sun and moon. High priestess of HummingByrds. Winner of awards. Lover of tacos, bubbles, balloons, and tea. Defier of gravity and language. Spreader of wings and dreams.
Byrd’s work is rooted in the need to unlearn, affirm the Black experience, and live in creative joy. Each of her coaching style tastes like ripe mangos, cayenne pepper, or an eclectic combination of the two. Her favorite words are balloon and bubble.
